After numerous interviews, background checks, and medical tests, Iwas offered a job as a chef at the McMurdo Research Base in Antarctica! The first leg of the trip takes me through New Zealand where bad weather in Antarctica offers me an impromptu vacation!
Our journey through Ecuador takes us from the mountains to the jungle as we head east to Puerto Misahuallí, the gateway to the Amazon!” We spent our time hiking through the forest, canoeing down the river, and experimenting with psychedelics.
The rest of our time in Baños is one big adventure filled with white water rafting, dune bugging up mountains, and rappelling down 100 foot waterfalls!
After visiting Cotopaxi and Quilotoa aboard the Wanderbus, we arrive in Baños, the “adventure capital of Latin America.” On our first day we bike down the “Route of the Waterfalls” and do some incredible sightseeing along the way!
Our trip in Quito continues as my cousins take us to the markets of Otavalo, the crater lake Cuicocha, a gondola up the Pichincha volcano, and to the monument at the “Center of the World!”
A few hours after arriving back on the mainland, we’re back on the road and head to the coastal town of Montañita for some drinking, relaxing, and whale watching!
